All children, who attend services, programs, events and spaces (including online environments) that are delivered, owned or managed by Council, have the right to be heard, to participate and feel safe regardless of their, or their families’, age, gender, race, ability, health, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or social background

    • Tell Someone – report something that happened to you or someone else anywhere in Tasmania to the Tasmanian Government.

Our Youth Services ensures that the young people of Sorell feel heard, empowered and equipped to thrive in our community.

1) Tell us what happened – email child.safety@sorell.tas.gov.au or phone to our HR staff:

    • When and where the incident/s happened,

    • What you saw or heard, who was involved,

    • Your name and contact number so we can follow up. You can also report anonymously.

2) Specially trained staff will look at the information and follow up, in compliance with the Tasmanian Government’s Reportable Conduct Scheme.

    • This might mean that we need to contact you or the child involved to ask for more information.

    • We may also need to share this information with relevant authorities, such as Tasmanian Police, the Advice and Referral Line and the Office of the Independent Regulator.

    • Any information about you, the child or young person involved will be kept private and confidential.

3) If required, the worker will be removed from any activities involving children or young people while the investigation happens.

4) If the worker is part of any other organisations that work with children or young people, those organisations may be notified that an investigation is underway.

5) Once the investigation is complete, a report will be shared with all the people and organisations involved. This report will include recommendations about the next steps to take.
