Temporary Pause on Bulk Hard Waste and Green Waste Bookings

Council is continuing to work towards a solution for the Bulk Hard Waste and Green Waste Collection Service.
On 19 June 2026, Council released a Request for Quote seeking suitably qualified and experienced contractors to deliver the collection service. Quotations are due by 8 July 2026.
If a suitable contractor can be found, Council anticipates reopening bookings in mid-July 2026. Further information regarding collection dates and booking arrangements will be provided after that time.
We understand this service is valued by the community and appreciate residents’ patience while we work to secure a new contractor.

Update 28th May 2026
Unfortunately, our contractor is no longer able to provide bulk green and hard waste collections as previously expected. Therefore, we have had to close bookings whilst we explore alternative arrangements to continue the service.
Council has always been upfront with the community about the limited availability of contractors able to provide this service, and this ongoing challenge has contributed to the current situation.
To avoid creating expectations around collection dates that may need to change, we’ve made the decision to temporarily close new bookings until we have more information on future service delivery and timing.
It is important to note that the next scheduled Hard Waste collection in August will be funded through the 2026–2027 rates. As these rates have not yet been levied, no rates have been paid for this service at this stage.
We are also hopeful that there will be further developments regarding local transfer station waste arrangements in the near future, which may provide additional options for residents.
