Sorell Recycling Hub & Recycling Centres
RECYCLING HUB
The Sorell Recycling Hub is a dedicated drop-off point for special recyclable items that cannot be placed in your kerbside bin. Located in the Council Offices, the Hub helps divert hazardous and valuable materials – such as heavy metals – from landfill and supports the circular economy.
✅ What Can I Recycle at the Hub?
You can drop off the following items:
- Batteries
- Mobile phones
- Printer cartridges
- Small e-waste items (e.g. USBs, computer mice)
- Medical x-rays
- Plastic bread tags
- CDs and DVDs
- Fluorescent light globes
- Medicinal blister packs
Location: Council Offices (47 Cole Street, Sorell)
Opening Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Community Recycling Centres
Sorell Council provides two self-service community recycling centres, open 24/7, for common household recyclables:
- Sorell Recycling Centre – Stores Lane, Sorell
- Dodges Ferry Recycling Centre – 538 Old Forcett Road (behind the Dodges Ferry Football Clubrooms)
Dodges Ferry Recycling Centre
What You Can Drop Off
These centres are designed to collect surplus kerbside recyclables, including:
- Cardboard
- Paper
- Aluminium and steel cans
- Plastic bottles and containers
- Glass bottles and jars
What NOT to Drop Off
Please do not leave the following items:
- Domestic rubbish
- Tyres
- Whitegoods (fridges, washing machines, etc.)
- Oil or chemicals
Leaving non-recyclable items is considered illegal dumping and may result in fines ranging from $200 to over $3,000.
The recycling centres are emptied 2–3 times a week, so please avoid leaving items on the ground – this contributes to litter and can lead to overflow issues.
