Flyway Park – New Pump Track
New Pump Track Coming to Flyway Park, Midway Point
Sorell Council is pleased to share that a new pump track will be delivered at Flyway Park in Midway Point, supported by LGAT Open Spaces grant funding. The project is expected to be complete by June 2026.
Flyway Park is a valued local open space, well used by the community and home to an existing playground and generous grassed areas. The new pump track will be located within the existing open space, making use of the park’s natural layout and supporting its role as a welcoming place for recreation and play.
The project will deliver a bitumen-sealed pump track (specially designed circuit with small hills, rollers and banked turns that can be ridden on bikes) designed with a minimum of two loops to cater for a range of users and abilities. An outer loop will provide a more challenging experience for older or more experienced riders, while an inner loop will offer a safe and fun space for younger children and those just starting out. The design will also include integrated stormwater management.
Council has engaged a specialist consultant through a competitive tender process to undertake both the design and construction of the project.
While the technical design and construction are being managed by experienced professionals, Council is interested in hearing from the community about broader site elements that would help make the space even better. This includes ideas such as parking, seating, shade, BBQ’s, bike racks, pathways, safety and accessibility improvements.

Further updates will be shared as the project progresses, including any opportunity for community input and information on construction timing and any temporary impacts.
