Blue Lagoon Weed Management Works

Sorell Council will be undertaking weed management works at Blue Lagoon from 2 February 2026, as part of our approved Blue Lagoon Weed Management Plan 2025–2035.

We’re doing this important work to improve the health of the lagoon and surrounding reserve for people and wildlife.

Stage 1 works include:

• Removal of invasive Cumbungi
• Staged removal of pine trees
• Revegetation at Kannah Street side
• Careful management to protect wildlife and lagoon health

Temporary fencing will be in place for safety. Revegetation is planned for late winter / early spring 2026.
