South East Arts Prize Exhbition 2025

The South East Arts Prize Exhibition made a vibrant return in 2025, transforming the Sorell Memorial Hall into a hub of creativity over four inspiring days. With the support of Council, South East Arts brought together around 100 talented artists from across Tasmania, showcasing over 180 incredible works. From ceramics to collage, painting to photography, sculpture to textiles, and everything in between, the exhibition was a wonderful celebration of artistic diversity.
A huge congratulations to all the prize winners who wowed the judge and the community:

Major Prize – Tyler Faulstich with his painting titled “Very Dry East Coast Wood $750 For 3 Tonnes Call Larry”

Sorell Council Acquisitive Prize – Lily Dunlop with her painting “Red Ochre Beach August 30 2025.”

Judge’s Special Award – John Murden with his sculpture titled “Driftwood Surfer.”

Most Innovative Use of Recycled Materials – Amanda Ward with her artwork titled “If Fish Could Scream #2.”

Junior Secondary Prize – Finley Buckland with his sculpture “Natural Affinity.”

Junior Primary Prize – Katie Clauson with her sculpture titled “World Inside a World.”

Best Local Subject – Tracey Polglaze with her mixed media piece titled “Morning Visitors at Slopen Main.”
Council proudly funded the Acquisitive Prize through its Annual Contributions and Donations Program, helping ensure local art continues to flourish.
