Applications currently advertised at Sorell Council

Discretionary applications that have been submitted to the Sorell Council for a planning permit are required to be advertised for a minimum of 14 days. The applications are also available for inspection during normal office hours at the municipal office (47 Cole Street, Sorell) during the advertising period.

Representations may be made in writing addressed to the General Manager, PO Box 126, Sorell 7172 or hand delivered to Council at 47 Cole Street, Sorell. Please note: Postal or hand delivered representations must be received prior to 4.45pm on the date of the representation expiry date to be accepted. Representations may also be made by electronic mail. Representations made by electronic mail must be received no later than 4.45pm on the date of the representation expiry date to be accepted and must be sent to sorell.council@sorell.tas.gov.au Representations sent by electronic mail to any other e-mail address will not be accepted. Late representations will not be considered and consequently may not have the same legal status under LUPA.

 

Tasmanian Planning Scheme – Sorell Draft Local Provisions Schedule (LPS)

EXHIBITION NOTICE – INVITATION FOR WRITTEN REPRESENTATIONS

The Sorell Council invites written representations on the relevant exhibition documents in relation to the Sorell draft Local Provisions Schedule (LPS).  The Tasmanian Planning Commission (the Commission) has directed the planning authority to publicly exhibit the Sorell draft LPS under section 35B of the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 (the Act).

Representations must be related to the matters listed under section 35E of the Act and not be to the effect that the content of the State Planning Provisions should be altered.

The LPS must contain the particular purpose zones, specific area plans, site specific qualifications and code-applying provisions that are included in the draft LPS by reason of the transitional provisions of Schedule 6 of the Act. Any matter contained in a representation that seeks to exclude one or more of those provisions will not be taken to be a representation.

The relevant exhibition documents in relation to the Sorell draft LPS and relevant supporting documents, including the State Planning Provisions (SPPs) and list of provisions required to transition from the Sorell Interim Planning Scheme 2015, are available for viewing during normal business hours at the:

  • Sorell Council offices, Monday to Friday at 47 Cole Street; and
  • The Tasmanian Planning Commission’s offices from 9am until 5pm, Monday to Friday at Level 3, 144 Macquarie Street, Hobart.

These documents may also be viewed and downloaded from the Sorell Council’s website at www.sorell.tas.gov.au and the Commission website at www.planning.tas.gov.au. These documents can be found on the links below.

Representations can be made in writing to the Sorell Council from 15 June 2021 until close of business of 16 August 2021.
