The Sorell Recycling Hub is a dedicated special item recycling facility located in the Council Offices. It provides a place to recycle and up-cycle small items such as batteries, light globes, small electronic equipment, mobile phones and printer cartridges that can’t be included in kerbside recycling bins.
Items that are currently being collected include:
- Mobile Phones
- Printer cartridges
- Small e-waste items including iPod, keyboards, computer mice and cords
- Medical x-rays
- Plastic bread tags
- CD’s & DVD’s
These items can be recycled into raw materials to make new products. Some of the uses they will be put to include plastic products, asphalt, roofing, car parts, insulation and fertiliser. It diverts materials containing heavy metals from landfill and helps support the circular economy.
Council’s waste survey conducted in 2019 identified improved recycling was a community priority.
Items can be dropped into the Recycling Hub during Council’s opening hours – 8.00am to 4.45pm Monday through Friday.
