Community and Youth Grants Program 2019/2020

Each year Council makes available an annual Community Grant Program to provide financial support to eligible community groups and organisations within the Municipality.  The Community Grant Program includes funds for Community Assistance, Youth Grants and Recurrent Community Grants.  Each grant program is governed by a set of specific guidelines and allocations are approved by Council.  Eligible community groups are able to apply for up to $1500.00.

The Community Grants Program 2019/2020 was open for applications throughout May 2019.

Council approved 26 applications, comprising of 21 Community Grants and 5 Youth Grants. Combined with 9 recurrent community grants, the total funds for the 2019/2020 Community and Youth Grants Program came to $43,307.55.

Community Assistance Grants:

Forcett Community Hall Committee – Contribute towards public liability insurance.

Jazz by the Sea – Assist with funding for bands and advertising for the event.

Orielton Hall Committee – Contribute towards public liability insurance.

Sorell Cricket Club – Contribute towards purchase of line marking paint.

Bendigo Bank South East Suns Netball – Purchase of two netball court squeegees.

The Southern Tasmanian Music Muster – Contribute towards costs of mainland artists  and toilets for the event.

Midway Point Neighbourhood House – Contribute towards purchase of instruments for a music class for all ages and end of year silent disco.

The Historical Society of Municipality of Sorell – Assist with purchase of images from TMAG, reproduce quality scanning of maps, photos, drawings and plans for the commemorative book to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Sorell being named officially as a town in 1821.

Sea Rescue Tas Inc. Dodges Ferry – Contribute towards funding for the replacement of smaller vessel boat trailer.                                                      

Sorell RSL Sub Branch – Contribute towards purchase of chairs suitable for seniors.

Okines Community House – Contribute towards the upgrade of outdoor kitchen floor.

Southern Beaches Landcare/Coastcare – Contribute towards funding of the ‘It’s Our Backyard’ program.

Dunalley Marion Bay Sailing Club – Contribute towards funding of an outboard and trailer.

Dodges Ferry Primary School Association – Contribute towards funding of the annual School Fair.

Bream Creek Farmers Market – Contribute towards funding for Waste Management Workshops.

South East District Little Athletics – Contribute towards cost of line marking.

Bream Creek Show Society – Funding for purchase of 50 bollards to assist with traffic management for the Show.

South East United Football Club – Contribute towards cost of line marking.

Sorell Football Club – Contribute towards cost of line marking.

SSAA Blue Hills Sporting Shooters Club – Contribute towards the installation of flood lights and undercover lighting on the range adjacent to the clubhouse.

Dodges Ferry Junior Soccer Association – Funding for portaloo hire and purchase of training aids.

Total Funding for Community Assistance Grant Program             $20,705.55

Youth Grants:

Pittwater Scouts – Contribute towards purchase of life jackets and Cub equipment.

SMS Youth – Funding for purchase of bean bags for youth group.

Primrose Sands Parenting Group – Funding for purchase of a portable marquee for outside activities.

South East Basketball Association – Contribute towards the hosting of an U13 disco.

Sorell School Association – Contribute towards funding of the annual School Fair.

Total Funding for Youth Grant Program                                             $   3,636.00

Successful applicants will have their grants presented to them on Wednesday 24 July at a special presentation evening at Council.
