Sorell Council is required to develop and implement a policy relating to dog management within its municipal area. Click here for more information on the Dog Management Plan. Dog Exercise Areas InformationPromoting Responsible Dog Ownership The Sorell Council recognises that a well exercised dog is less likely to create a nuisance within the community, therefore a number of exercise areas have been designated throughout the Sorell municipal area. Whilst being exercised, dogs are required to be under effective control by the owner at all times. Dog owners are required to remove faeces and to dispose of in a proper manner. Council have specifically designed disposable bags available for purchase at a minimal cost from the Council Chambers, Somerville Street, Sorell. These bags will also be available at each restricted area and will be contained within the dog faeces bins. Failure to remove dog faeces may result in a maximum fine of $300.00 along with court costs. Appropriate signage and purpose built dog faeces bins are positioned at various locations in the municipal area. Dog Prohibited Areas
