| Welcome to Sorell CouncilMayor's MessageI am looking forward to working with the Sorell community as Mayor for another term, following the recent local government elections, and I would like to thank all those who took the time to vote this year. Sorell Council would like to welcome one new Councillor, Kerry Vincent. Kerry is replacing Jack Rheinberger, who did not re-contest the position. On behalf of the Council and the community I wish to thank Jack Rheinberger for his commitment to the Sorell municipality over the past years and we are very grateful to Jack for his organisation of the 200 Years of Settlement celebrations the were held in June. I would also like to congratulate Councillor Graeme Evans for his re-election as Deputy Mayor, and Kerry Degrassi and Mike Purdon for their re-election to Council. Road construction by the Departmentof Infrastructure, Energy and Resources(DIER) seems to be a never-ending activity in Sorell, but one that is apprecated, with three roundabouts on schedule to be completed early in December. Upcoming road works on the Arthur Hwy will address safety issues and slipways will ensure easy access to businesses and the arterial roads off the highway. Drainage has become a real issue due to recent heavy rains particularly in the Southern Beaches area, but our Works Manager, supervisors and staff are diligently battling ongoing wet weather to solve these problems. A draft release of Sorell Master Plan is available for public comment, however as an early draft it is not yet endorsed by Council. The Master Plan will be available from Council offices shortly. Council would also like to remind everyone to be fire season-vigilant this festive season as the weather warms up by clearing dry vegetation around your property and having a fire safety plan in place. On behalf of everyone at Sorell Council, I would like to wish you all a safe and peaceful Christmas. Mayor Carmel Torenius
